About a few weeks ago my friend and I went to Oma Spoon at Orchard and tried their bingsu! It was my first time and I immediately knew I had to get the Injeolmi Bingsu ($12.90) because I LOVE RICECAKES!! It consisted of milky ice flakes, almond flakes, a small cup of diluted (yucks) condensed milk and rice cakes with soybean powder (also known as Injeolmi). It was the first ever Injeolmi Bingsu in my life and i was lucky that it was from Oma Spoon! Although the diluted condensed milk turned me off a little, but the flavorful ice flakes and chewy rice cakes made up for it! Their snowflakes were so soft and fluffy I really just GAHSGHAJAKALAHDGSHAHAJSGS¡¡¡ The soybean powder wasn’t too sweet or too bland as compared to the one I had at Nunsaram. Time for pictures :
I dropped a rice cake on the tray…¡-¡ I actually ordered for no almond but they still gave it to me anyways:/ thankfully I’m not allergic to almonds, I just dislike those nuts. They need to be more thoughtful and alert with the customer’s order, if the customer was allergic to almonds then they would have to waste a big bowl of $12.90 ice…
As for Nunsaram, their soybean powder tasted really bland, they could have added some powdered sugar into the soybean powder. I know what plain soybean powder taste like, so I think powdered sugar would really enhance the taste of their bingsu. Nunsaram’s Injeolmi Bingsu was also for SGD12.90(I think), and made by real Koreans(but I guess that didn’t change anything). Having tasted Oma Spoon’s Injeolmi Bingsu before, Nunsaram was pretty much a disappointment. Their ice are fluffy and light too, but the taste of the toppings were….maybe a 2/10? The three big rice cakes topped on the middle were too big and rubbery, it also tasted slight too floury, which was very unpleasant. The soybean powder was also not fragrant and almost tasteless, AND THEY WERE SO STINGY WITH MY FAVOURITE SOYBEAN POWDER<\3 With the pictures you can clearly see how thin the layer of soybean powder was…. :
What I liked about Nunsaram was that they were careful with my order and didn’t put any almond on my bingsu:) Their condensed milk was also very condensed unlike Oma Spoon’s (pathetic) diluted milk…
In conclusion, I still haven’t found a Bingsu that satisfies me yet, so the search continues!
